Kasey debuted in the Junior Handlers Rings.

Nichole needed a dog to take in, asked to take Kasey (I nearly fell over with a leg in the air - Kasey is NOT a dog for Junior Handlers ... or so I thought)

Nichole and Kasey came out in First Place - Nichole has now qualified for Jnr Handlers at the Adelaide Royal,

and I was gobsmacked - well done Nichole & Kasey

Metropolitian Kennel Club - Champ Shows

This was the first show for Follys babies - Carson and Freddie.

His little sister - Freddie, had a ball and at the ripe old age of 13 weeks, and 4 days, took out Baby Puppy in Group.

Then on the very next day - BACK TO BACK - Best Baby Puppy in Group.

What a way to start to a show career!!

GSDCA National Show & Restricted Trial - 2nd, 3rd + 4th May 2008

Adelaide

Judges: Dogs - Herr L Schweikert (SV - Germany)

Bitches - Herr Hans-Peter Fetten (SV - Germany)

The National was a great weekend starting on the Thursday with the setting up of tents/shades, catching up with friends, the Breed Survey and the Meet N Greet.

Friday started "the hard work", and we had a lot of Fun.  Thanks to Linda Hume (Leppsdorf Kennels) for handling Pink in the Minor Bitch class and doing a great job with a very annoying dog who kept wanting to see what her sister was doing behind her - unfortunately for us - she kept doing this front of the judge - lol.  Martin handled Nikki and did a great job with her, many thanks to Trish and Craig of Davor Kennels for having and training her in the lead up to the National.  Jax (Powderfinger) had his first show and he did a great job, with fanastic and very enthusiastic doubling handling from his young owner and her parents - onya Anney, Michelle and Ian - welldone!!

Nichole, was unable to attend the first 2 days of the National, as she was home Bassett Baby Sitting (as her mum had gone to Victoria for a Bassett Champ Show).  She had made her mother promise to be home in time for her to come on Sunday to handle Folly... she was.

Saturday saw us getting organised for Progeny Groups and Breeders Group - I think I had the whole kennel with me that day as everyone was either in a Prog Group or my Breeders Group.  Many thanks to the owners of Vondoussa dogs who bought them down for the Progency and Breeders Group.  Then it was Kasey's turn in Inter Dog.  Again he teamed up with Linda, and they did a good job (as always) together, it was a pity he was unwell on the day (and I didn't know this at the time), but there'll be next time.

Sunday saw the panic on to try and keep coat for Folly, and for once Georgie had plenty of coat!! (after her critique - it appears too much - lol).  Martin and Nichole did a great job of keeping the girls apart, quietish and settled, coming and getting them from the trailer and putting them away - thanks guys.  The hard yards on Folly's coat must have worked, and she did a great individual - she was called out 11th in Open bitch and finished 12th.  All of Nichole's hard work in getting her fit for the National had paid off.  11 weeks prior to the National, Folly had (of course) whelped her litter (by Caesarian) to Kwint.  Martin did a very good job with Georgie and their individual wasn't too bad, she just went a bit too hard when I called her (whoops....)  Georgie likes Martin and doesn't give him too hard a time.  They finished lower than we would have liked, but they worked very well together, and were still excellent graded.

During the lunch break, was the Junior Handlers.  Nichole had hoped to use Andy (*Bruangie Imran Prince AZ) but as Velga wasn't well, they didn't bring any dogs with them, Beryl Owen kindly lent her Sonny (Kuirau Regan).  Nichole was in the 12 - 16 years of age girls, and there was very tough competition, with lovely handlers from all over the Country.  We were all amazed (not by Nichole's ability - BUT by the level of the competition) when she won the class.  The Judge - Mr John Fenner (WA) had some very nice comments to make on Nichole's handling.  Well done Nichole!!!

Nichole's Junior Handler Critique - 1st - very skilled.  Nichole's handling showed a significantly high level of general control, skills and ability.  She presented a distinct self confidence and excellent skill at show handling.  The very good timing of her commands and handling adjustments to her dog were done with excellent voice inflection.  With a notable positive attitude and keeping pace with her dog, this allowed Nichole to show her highly disciplined skills and high ability.  Very good responses from her dog whilst gaiting and an excellent set up instance, showed significant skills in teamwork and correct overall presentation.  Nichole gave an especially highly skilled performance, so congratulations go to Nichole on first place in a very, very competitive class that contained 6 top handlers.

It was a great weekend with great results.  Many thanks to Candy Smith (Natchez Kennels) and Vicky Rumsey for being "water bitches" for the "girls".  Kevin and Velga Corlett (Bruangie Kennels) for helping (as always) with Kasey (despite Velga not being well), and everyone else as mentioned.  Below are the critique's from the National ...

Vondoussa Look At Me CCD

"Ceasar"

Ceasar - has now passed his third and final leg of CCD and passed with a great score of 91 and third place.

Ceasar started his CCD trialling at his home trials at Pt Pirie.  He wasn't successful either day, but he had fun and as Michelle said - they learnt lots!!!

They then went to Whyalla Trials, where Ceasar was passing on the Saturday, but he did a runner before the stays started and was disqualified from doing the stays.  On Sunday he was better behaved and passed with a score of 85.  Michelle wasn't impressed as he was a better worker than that - BUT a pass is a pass. 1st leg of CCD.

Trip down to Adelaide for the Gawler & Districts trial, saw Ceasar submitting a "job resume" as a sniffer dog!!!!  Still he did everything (barely) that was asked of him and passed with a score of 80 - 2nd leg of CCD.

Para Districts trial on 28 July 2007 - another trip to Adelaide!!  and yes another pass!!!

Ceaser worked like he should have, and all the promise he had shown in training finally paid off - 91, and 3rd place.  Only 1 heart stopping moment, during the down stay, another dog got up and stood over the top of him.  Finally it was too much for Ceasar and he did get up and move away.  Judge re-ran the down stay for him, as he was provoked to get up.  This time not a problem in the world!!

Yeah - CCD Title

Well done to Michelle (& Ian) and Ceasar - now
